A #throwbackthursday shot for you today; this one from 2007.
I first heard Shemekia Copeland, daughter of Texas bluesman Johnny Copeland, at the Lowell Folk Festival around 2005 and she blew us away! This image was made a few years later when she headlined at the Lowell Summer Music Series.

She was walking through the crowd without a mic and still filling the night with her mighty voice.
Someone off to my right fired off a flash shot (grrrrr… NO FLASH AT CONCERTS!) just as I hit the button. I’m a bit sad that I didn’t manage to get her all in the frame but I kinda like the effect.
