Not a word, not a single word

photo365 – Day 232

We had an annual tradition in my high school, ‘Hat Day’. I trust that I don’t need to explain the subject of celebration that day. 😉

I’ve done a fair bit of poking fun at my old friends in these #TBT shots so I thought it was time for a bit of turn-about. Man, my hair was short in those days. 😉

Secret Caverns – Central Bridge, NY

photo365 – Day 231

We had already seen Howe Caverns and someone suggested we visit ‘Secret Cavern’ just down the road. What a blast!

The entire place has a rather tounge-in-cheek attitude; very much the polar opposite of the Howe Caverns experience. For example. they encourage you to touch the stones. The cave itself is much smaller than Howe; there is a bit of ducking and twisting to get through some spots. They also turn the lights off behind the group so don’t dawdle or your be in the blackest place you’ve ever experienced!

It’s well worth a visit. I have more photos from my visit here: http://bit.ly/secretcaverns2013

Lyle Lovett – 2014 Lowell Summer Music Series

photo365 – Day 229

I’ve seen Lyle 3 times, twice in the ‘Large Band’ formation. I prefer the large band for its greater depth of sound, broader dynamic range and diversity of tonal palette. During the course of the 2.5 hour show each of the 13 band members were highlighted to demonstrate their virtuosity. His wry humor, including an interaction with a sleepy 8 year old in the front row, was a delightful feature of this very entertaining and engaging show.

Adam Ezra Group – 2014 Lowell Summer Music Series

photo365 – Day 227

This is the second time I’ve seen him and he has grown as a performer. They performed ‘The Devil came up to Boston‘ and I was rolling in the aisle!
Because the series is family friendly they replaced the ‘harsh language’ with a whistle and it was hysterical! You can see a video of the original song in all it’s colorful language glory on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWVcIn7Q4Cc
