It seems like such an obviously good thing — transparency in the Government’s spending of our money. Nice! What a great idea! I’m sure it’s going to be a twisty bitch to implement, but well worth the effort. That is, unless, you have something to hide.
From the original post, comes a real nugget:
“There is no conceivable, rational explanation for killing this legislation unless they have something to hide.”
Zune, the very-not-secret new portable player/music store-iTunes-wannabe device will have WiFi. This is not news, it’s been mentioned many times before. What may have been overlooked is the fact that you will not be able to purchase music directly from the device; you have to go to your PC, purchase, download to the PC and then transfer to the device. This, if true, is brain dead. Oh, wait…right… lawyers are invovled.
I just hope this isn’t the case of a bunch of Luddite, worrywort copyright-absolutist attorneys standing in the way of innovative technology.
I like this quote a lot. I may use it myself. ๐ The entire piece is linked below.
I’ll skip the drama surrounding the departure of Amanda Congdon from RocketBoom. However, I will point you to an excellent piece she did regarding Net Neutrality.
I so do love our Nakamichi SoundSpace 3 alarm clock. It has FAN-DAMN-TASTIC sound (subwoofer bhaybee!) sleek, classy design and what was most important to us, two displays. We can each control the alarm (of which it has two) and check how late for work we are without rolling up on one elbow to see over the other person to the clock on the far nightstand. Sweet.
I sloghed through several eBay auctions (it has been out of production for a few years) before finally getting my hands on one. Imagine my disappointment when it arrived DOA. Undetered, I grabbed a few tools and cracked the sucka open. One of the cable connectors had come loose in transit. Simple. JOY!
This little beastie may have me rethinking my choice.
Despite the name (are they trying to attract sharks or customers?), this little gem is packed with geeky-goodness. This thing isn’t even publicly available yet but it already has quite a few case mods and Flash based ‘widgets’.
Well it seems that someone at AOL, in the form of CTO Maureen Govern, has taken resposibility for the ‘special kinda stupid’ move of releasing customer search data. I have a feeling she’s going to be ‘spending time with her family’ for awhile… a long while.
I’m generally very pesimistic about those search engine optimzation (SEO) ‘consultants’. Frankly, I rate them somewhere between snake oil and used car salesmen. My basic premise is that if your content doesn’t suck, people will link to you and then you will naturally rise in the search results. Basic natural selection.
However, there are some basic hints that will improve the general ‘search engine friendliness’ of your blog. The article below is a good collection of these hints and it includes code examples for Moveable Type and WordPress to implement the hints. Good stuff.
